Our guide Peter had personally made an 'ie lavalava for each of us. The 'ie lavalava is the traditional dress for both Samoa men and women. The day's adventure was to take part in an 'Ava Welcome Ceremony hosted by one of the chiefs on the nearby island of Aunu'u. The 'ie lavalava was to be worn so that we fit in properly. After we had breakfast we put on our 'ie lavalavas and gathered to be bused to the Auasi boat dock to catch the alia water taxi.NEXT PHOTO |
